Basically, a rodent is a small mammal with pointed teeth, like a rat or a rabbit.

Mice and rats are nasty little animals that may inflict damage in your home or place of business. It is unimaginable how much damage rats have done to both people and crops. The plague is one of the most lethal illnesses these little organisms spread. In areas where food is readily accessible, rats and mice can be found in large numbers.

They therefore tend to be found close to human communities, particularly in confined spaces like waste dumps, which gives these cunning critters plenty of places to hide. In homes, workplaces, industries, storage facilities, restaurants, godowns, shops, etc., rats (also known as rates) are a common sight.

There are many different types of rodents, such as bandicoots, roof rats, and house mice.

1. Bandicoot
   
   Generally found outdoors, bandicoot live in farms and fields. Instead of going into buildings, they usually stay close to the town’s garbage disposal stations.
   
   Bandicoot Characteristics:
   
   Bandicoot rats are an aggressive kind of rat that can tunnel through concrete foundations and storage buildings. These rodents can store a lot of food in their burrows and are hoarders. They grow hostile and attack with pig-like grunts when they feel threatened.
   
   Risks & Damage:
   
   Bandicoots are a serious problem on farms and in fields. Typically, they harm gardens, building floors, crops, grains, and fruit crops.
   
   
2. Roof – Rat
   
   One rat, called a “Roof-Rat,” ranges in colour from black to light brown with a lighter underside. Roof-Rats are usually skilled climbers. In short, these rat’s tails are longer than their bodies. Compared to humans, they have far better senses of smell, hearing, and touch.
   
   Roof rats first appeared in India and Eastern Africa, and now they can be found everywhere.
   
   Roof – Rat Characteristics:
   
   Inch-per-year incisor growth is typical for roof rats and is around 4 inches. Rats keep themselves in check by continuously chewing, which can cause serious harm to a house, business, or other structure. They often eat through anything in their path, which results in serious destruction. They also urinate and excrete waste frequently, contaminating whatever they encounter. Roof rats are quick to recognise and steer clear of foreign objects placed in their environment.
   
   Risk & Damage:
   
   There are around 45 different diseases that roof rats can spread. Roof rats can easily damage a wide range of anything that encounter them thanks to their powerful teeth, including food, water, and the environment. In Indian nursing homes, it is even rumoured that they eat the body parts of young children. The entire food supply chain, including field crops, food storage, and even food transportation, is severely harmed by roof rats.
   
   3. House Mouse
   
   The House mouse was first discovered in East Asia, and through the supply chain and import/export, it has now spread to every continent. The typical habitat of these mice is grassy areas.
   
   House Mouse Characteristics:
   
   House mice continue to reproduce both indoors and outdoors throughout the summer. Instead of venturing too far from their nest, the mice prefer to explore the perimeter of a room. They frequently travel the same route both ways. Their fur contains smear markings where grease from dust and pee accumulated.
   
   Risk:
   
   During the summer, house mice breed continually outside, and they breed continuously indoors. The Mice like to roam about a room’s perimeter rather than go too far from their nest. They consistently take the same path there and back. Smear marks can be seen in their fur where grease from dust and urine has built up.
